Lord I’ve Been Thinking…

You know Lord, I was thinking about you this morning, as well as about us as your human creation. When you created man, what care and thought you put into him. He was to be the crowning touch of your creation. Not only that, but you gave him the part of you, above all other creatures, to think, to reason, and for you to communicate with; someone who could take care of the earth you had created. In order for man to be like you, and appreciate the things you do, you created him with the ability to be happy and sad, to love and be loved, to be able to express joy and sorrow. In other words, you created him with emotions, as well as likes and dislikes, all of which would not be possible without man being able to choose. So, you gave him the power of choice. Then as you looked down at the man you had created you felt satisfied; except the man alone was incomplete, so you created him a woman to share your attributes with. Only, you gave her a little different part of your character, to make the earth a better, lovelier place. And you loved them both, as your children. I suppose you knew they would choose to eat of that tree, didn’t you? That surely made you sad and disappointed, even a little angry at them. Not in a wicked way of course, because there is no wicked way in you. But you were angry, especially at the serpent who tempted them to fall. Even in your anger, you made a promise that you would make a way of redemption for them, albeit that was thousands of years, and a flood later.

The Bible does not tell us exactly what your original plan was for man; would Adam and Eve have had children in their perfect state? However, whatever your first plan was, their choice to eat of the forbidden fruit, did not spoil the second if we could call it that. As children were born to Adam and Eve, you could have made everyone identical to them. Or, you could have made everyone have black hair and brown eyes, or blue eyes and blonde, or all the same temperament. Yet you wanted each and every person to be a special individual. How you made it happen, neither I nor scientists for that matter have figured out, no child is exactly the same as their parents. They tend to be a mix of personalities of their parents, but none of them are the same. This mix of personalities is also your great plan so that parents can understand and properly relate to their children. Occasionally, a child will even carry the resemblance of an ancestor, yet no one is exactly alike. In your wisdom, this is the way you make each of us especially to your design. Man has figured out a lot of things but that is one thing that you retain the answer for.

I wonder how you can love mankind; you see all the ones who take their own way, commit terrible deeds, yet you still extend your grace to them. Then I remember that you have no evil in you to hinder your mercy. I in turn have the seed of sin, and the power of choice, which you created us with for your glory, but it also opens the door for us to be evil. I wish that I could be more like you Father.

Lord when you give life at conception, it’s perfect; no sin, no environment to form that little bit of life, completely pure, free from anything from the outside world. True they say that there are emotional and genetic weaknesses which are passed on from our parents, but then how much of our foundation to face life comes from the time of conception until the time of birth? According to science, leaving out things such as drugs and alcohol, it is the mood of our mothers, and their environment which prepares us to face life once we are born. So much is in our subconscious before we are born that we become preconditioned to live life in our parents’ environment. It’s really amazing, Lord. Your plan is so complete! Before we were born, we were already influenced by the things surrounding us. We experienced this with our own adopted daughter. Her little eyes looked at us so strange when she was a newborn. The sound of our voices was foreign to her, and singing actually made her afraid, and she would cry. She was not preconditioned for the environment of our home, neither does she share our personalities, but what a gift she is to us! She has added a dimension to our lives that we could never have imagined without having experienced it, and it’s been amazing Father! Thank you for giving her to us! You have made all of us uniquely yours, for your purpose, even from before we are born. So, what does this all mean to me? It means I am fearfully and wonderfully made, in your own image Father, and by your personal design. I am wholly yours! There are so many more things we could talk about, but maybe they can wait for another time.

Okay, it’s already late in the day, and I have enjoyed this conversation, Lord. Please help me to be worthy of your love.
