At Evening Time, it Shall be Light

We live in unprecedented times, times like never before. Today we live with war, the threat of nuclear war, food shortages and hunger, as well as escalating fuel prices and living expenses. Political unrest fills the news headlines, while crime and immorality have become common. Depression, mental illness, and suicide are common, even in children. Fear, global pandemics, and mistrust of those in authority, have caused people to seek for truth in their own way. Divisions and conspiracy theories are gripping people like never before. Social media is full of angry people, eager to give the world a piece of their mind, breaking down the common decency and respect of mankind. It is also responsible for unprecedented social pressure to look good and be beautiful. Cyber bullying and pornography are dangers lurking out there as well. Alternative lifestyles are presented and protected despite the Word of God; seeking to normalize this behavior, rather than bringing it to God for healing. See Romans 1:24-28. In reality, all these things are threatening to tear apart the very fabric of societies, cultures, and biblical values. As man seeks more liberty for himself, he becomes the oppressor of those who seek and serve God. See Matthew 24:12 and 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

Never before have the atrocities of war and violence been digitally captured and sent worldwide in a moments time, for all to read around the globe. Within minutes, men on the far reaches of the planet are emotionally affected by people and places they may have never heard of or been. This can either bring compassion or hate, and sometimes both which can lead to an emotionally unstable world. This being said, there are some benefits to our instant communication, and it should stir our hearts to compassion for all men, no matter of color, race, or ethnicity. All cultures and peoples are loved the same by God. See Acts 17:26-28.

If this is not enough negativity, there are the spirits that want to tear God’s church apart from the inside out. There is no one exempt from the onslaught of Satan. His spirits are out sowing seeds of independence, divisions, mistrust, and offense in attempt to destroy what God has created for a sanctuary of truth. Material pursuits, independence, entitlement, and lack of spiritual fervor are seeking to ensnare God’s children. Social and economic pressures threaten our souls.

The forces of darkness are everywhere, and some are having trouble in finding a meaningful relationship with a loving God.
Looking at this picture, one may be tempted to say, “So, what’s the use? Where is God in all of this?” One thing we must bear in mind that God has not moved. His mercy and standard of holiness remain the same as it always has been. Man has been the one who because of self-love, pride, and ungodliness, has opened the door for spirits of degradation to enter and hence the downwards spiral has commenced to levels akin to the pre-flood era of time. At that time, because of sin, God chose to destroy the world with a flood, but Noah and his son’s found grace in God’s eyes among all the wickedness. God made a promise to Noah and all mankind that He would never destroy the world with a flood again. See Genesis 9:12-17. However, He has said that He will come again as a thief in the night when no one is expecting His return. See Matthew 24:31-44 and 2 Peter 3:3-14

Thankfully God does not leave us alone without hope, but continues to extend His grace and mercy to all mankind.

See Romans 5:20

In this day of darkness in which we live, it is a call for God’s people to stand up for the truth of His word. Not in the way of joining in the public protest of evil, but in meekness and quietness, daily walking with our Lord. Letting the water of His word wash our hearts and lives, making us fit for His service. See Ephesians 5:26-27.

Satan would like us to think that all is lost and it is not possible to live a pure Christian life. However, we have many promises in His Word that God’s grace will extend until the end of time. While the world grapples in darkness, the people of God need not fear for He has promised that “at evening time it shall be light.” See Zechariah 14:6-7 Also read Psalms 46.

While the world swirls on in heartbreak, pain, distress, and sadness, we can find a secure resting place in the arms of our Lord. It will take a denying self, and a full commitment to God, but that is all possible because of the promises of His Word. See Jesus promise in Matthew 16:24-25. And He will never forsake us; see Hebrews 13:5-8

As darkness, sin, and evil presses in, it tends to cause us to lose hope. We both see and feel it’s oppression, threatening our minds and ability to discern truth. However, we need not fear. In fact, that is just what Satan wants us to do, to lose hope. His Word tells us that where sin abounds His grace doth much more abound. See Romans 5:20. May we never succumb to the voice of evil, but press closer to Jesus, experiencing His love, mercy, and forgiveness. See John 6;37, Luke 11:9-10, John 14:26-27
