When you are tempted to get hurt and offended over what someone says, Let it go.
When you feel like life has given you more than you can bear, Let it go.
When you feel like your children are not accepted of others, Let it go.
When you feel like your life does not measure up to the status quo, Let it go.
When burdens of life threaten to steal your joy, Let it go.
When you feel like you are a failure to God and disapproved of others, Let it go.
When discouragement with life’s circumstances threatens to overwhelm your mind, Let it go.
When a critical thought comes towards yourself or others, Let it go.
Letting go, is simply letting God. It is getting me out of the way so that God can work His work in my heart. It is not weakness, but our greatest strength. In letting go it proves the strength of our character, and the power of God. To let God, is to experience peace, inner joy, and contentment. Letting go is to experience a power beyond ourselves. It is trust, and faith rolled together in a great God. Letting go does not mean we are less, but it means we have come to understand the bigger picture where God fills those needs of acceptance. Letting go and letting God is an interesting journey of experiences. When I am in control of my life, it is mundane, and full of things I believe I am capable of. When I let God, He takes me beyond myself, to places I never thought possible before. Letting go, means I am not in control, yet I am comforted in knowing that I can trust God, that He will not lead me into something that He knows I cannot handle. Letting go is the answer.
It is our natural reaction to want to be in control, but how much actual control do we have? We did not choose to be born, or what gender we were, how we looked or who our parents were. We did not choose our DNA, our country or culture. We did not choose the year we were born, or who was president that year. We did not choose whither we were healthy or not, or our strengths and weaknesses. We did not choose our personalities or temperament. In reality, we had nothing to say in the who, what, where, and when of the beginning of our existence. Neither did our parents choose these things for us. It is true that they played a small part in our existence, and where we were born; they may have given you a name, but beyond that they had little more to do with it than take care of you. This points us to the one who created the real you, which is God.
Letting God, and letting go is only surrendering our will to the one who is really in control anyway. It is true that we have family traits, and resemblances, but those also are a gift from God. Our ancestors had no more choice in their existence, than we have today. Letting go, is accepting ourselves who God created us to be.
Letting go, does not mean I am weak, or a push over. It does not mean that I do not have any say anymore, or that I was wrong. Neither is it a compromise of godly and personal values. It simply means I am giving my tests and struggles over to God to work out for me. It means not trying anymore to work out my own problems. It means that my thoughts and ideas are just as important as everyone else’s are. It means I have the same right to a life of joy and happiness as those around me. It means that life could get interesting as God is then able to use us as He intended to in the first place.
Letting go means turning those fears over to God, and learning to trust. It means letting God fill my every need. Letting go does not mean that fear does not exist in our lives, but it means that our trust in God goes beyond our fears. Letting go means that my relationship with God, means more than these earthly fears. God cannot work His divine will in our lives, unless we have learned to let go and trust. Letting go, means I have truly learned to live.
Let go, let God, and live.
Galatians 2:20 KJV I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
